A recent campaign has arisen in the town of Waterville Maine–an approach to screwing the poor yet again… in a state where a job at McDonald’s serves as the middle-class.
Here is how locals are dealing with the new ordinance which in most cities like Boston, is subsidized–in Waterville it is not… the true Maine spirit of selfishness is alive and well:

Roadside lots like this are becoming more common. Other residents have resorted to illegal dumpster drops, pooled resources for dump runs out of town and straight up sacking loads in front of city hall. Trash will not be collected unless Purple Bag’ed.
The idea of the program was that by charging $11.00 per set of 5 bags

residents would self implement austerity measures to reduce trash output. Since humans don’t magically stop producing trash especially those with children, the program has proven utterly worthless… Steps can be taken to reduce trash output… but this seems like a way of poor shaming non the less.
