Boston was a quick stop on our way to Needham and onward to Framingham. (Yes… a town called Need Ham. Didn’t stay long. Vegetarian… you know…) Boston was active. Most wearing masks, some not. As of the day we left Framingham an order had been placed to mandate masks upon the general public. It was 7am at Dunkin Blownuts on Concord (the main arterial rte. 126 toward Walmart). Before an order of two spots and a donut we were told to put on the mask or no entry could be permitted. The American flag bandana was all of what was available… I sealed my face with it in all irony. The cashier had a good laugh…

It was a bit frightening to watch back in Portsmouth, all the pale faced, fearful and silent walking around at Walmart on Lafayette with in what frame of mind in cold and days of rain, seemed as duct tape over their mouths.
Worth noting. We were ID’ed for a set of binoculars at Walmart in Framingham. These, like bullets, are survival gear which Walmart used to keep unlocked. Lighters, knives and slingshots are a liability depending on state. Binoculars are not.

Portsmouth may have had a death–bike shop owner on Islington, next to Dunkin (Tony’s Bike)–lost a relative to the virus forcing a shutdown. Not 100% confirmed* We will upload a photo of the shop and try to get more details and interviews. These shops on Islington remain in service to those who can call in a curbside delivery. Most operations remain without inside access to the stores disregarding however, Hannaford, Walmart, and many laundry joints downtown like Cleary Cleaners. Hannaford just began running six-foot spaced lines outside the store (5th-6th). Hannaford is also running a massive shortage in pasta… We spoke to a Walmart employee who seemed to validate the notion that they are having genuine issues keeping up with demand at the warehouses.

If these are facts however, none of the businesses should be operational at all. Management however seemed more concerned with making sure that the homeless are neither occupying the lobby nor using the vending machine for quarters. An odd concern to say the least. We were harassed many times by an un-masked member of management while attempting to wash and dry. It didn’t seem to matter be it a customer or not, the feeling of being corralled is getting real. And every store in town remains closed. We watched a group inside the closed Silver Street Tavern sitting behind locked doors and closed curtains without PPE and some kids too-probably employees who brought their children to work on this day off or soon to be, weeks off if not months. All sitting around the bar watching CNN… Spotted me staring through the glass outside, one of the bar keeps said “we’re closed!” We left the scene quickly. If you’re sealed off it is already to late… Get to friends, family or sleep in your car outside the city for a few days… The first sign are closures. We have been hearing an unusual amount of sirens here in the Waterville area in CentralMaine. A little concerning regarding Chinese style lockdowns.
